Yes and No, the compression garments may or may not be included in your package, depending on the Hospital or Center you are attending. Please check with your Coordinator. You have an option to bring your own garment or purchase garments from the Internet or your home country.
Implants are not lifetime devices. Most of the implants have a life span of around 20 years, however there are many factors that can effect this estimate such as premature complications and combinations of rippling, capsular contracture, rupture, surgical error etc. We recommend regular MRI check for all breast implants recipients.
With or without breast surgery, your breast will go through all the usual changes associated with pregnancy and this includes enlargement of the breast, changes with the color of your nipples etc. If you have plans to get pregnant, it is best to postpone your breast surgery.
Many women are concerned about silicone gel getting into breast milk if their implants were to rupture. Studies have shown that silicone molecules are too large to pass into the milk ducts and breast gland tissue. In addition, the FDA conducted numerous studies which served to exonerate silicone gel implants as a cause of disease. Therefore for simple breast implants, you will still be able to breastfeed. In some cases like breast implants in a periareolar incision (around the edge of the nipple), it may interrupt or disturb the milk ducts. Placing implants below the pectoral (chest) muscle is least likely to disturb the milk duct.
Discuss your plans to breast-feed with your Plastic Surgery Thailand surgeon so he will be able to work with you to achieve the best possible aesthetic results without compromising your plans to breast-feed.
The following are some possible indications that your breast implants have ruptured.
Please note that the above are the possible symptoms, only ultrasound can detect implant rupture, so regular checkups are encouraged.
Stretch marks following breast implants surgery is uncommon, although there is a possibility but the factors involved could be:
A support bra or regular bra without underwire is recommended following any breast surgery procedure. You may want to check and purchase the recommended compression bra by searching the Internet.
Yes this is normal. If you hear crackling, gurgling or squeaking noises coming from your new breast, please do not panic. This results from a fluid build-up or air bubbles within the implant pocket, or from the implant settling in. This will settle after few weeks.
You will be able to shower right after the surgery as your wounds will be covered with waterproof plasters. However swimming is not allowed until your incisions are closed and your sutures have been removed.
Yes there is a possibility that your implants may rupture if done incorrectly. Please make sure to notify the technician or radiologist that you had an implants before having the mammogram test.
Generally speaking, patients undergoing elective surgery have very minimal risk, provided due care and attention is attended to by your clinical care team and by you as a patient. When you are admitted to the hospital you will be provided with a consent package that details these risks, but the following is a quick list. The following is not meant to frighten you but to make you aware of the possibilities.
Risks of having a General Anaesthetic
Things that can go wrong in the operation
Things that might happen in the first few weeks
Things that might happen long term
During your consultation, your Plastic Surgery Thailand surgeon can explain all these risks, what they do to avoid and treat them, and the rates at which they occur.
Yes. It is best to have breast lift after pregnancy as there is chance that breast lift will result to diminished sensation and can hinder the ability to breastfeed.
Breast Lifts are long lasting but not permanent. There are factors that can affect the changes on the breast appearance such as pregnancy and breastfeeding, genetics, age, weight fluctuations, excessive sun exposure and heavy smoking. To prevent quick sagging, it is highly recommend to wear support bra at all times.
A breast lift does remove excess skin, making the breasts tighter and bringing the nipples back into an aesthetic position on the breasts, but it is not intended to increase the volume. To achieve upper breast fullness and increase breast volume, an implant is needed.
Breast revision surgery is often more complicated and requires a more advanced skillset than an initial breast augmentation or other enhancement procedure. Your Plastic Surgery Thailand surgeon will be dealing with factors such as changes in the skin and breast, scar tissue and other challenges. Meticulous attention to detail and advanced techniques are critical in surgical revision procedures.
Most of the time, your Plastic Surgery Thailand surgeon will use your previous incision sites. Unless additional incision is necessary. Minimizing scarring is an important goal with breast implant revision.
Yes, breast reduction surgery should be considered permanent, although the remaining fat cells will swell and enlarge if you gain weight. Other factors that can gain amounts of breast tissue back are pregnancy, natural or synthetic hormones.
Free nipple grafting is performed by temporarily removing the nipple from the breast. The nipple is then repositioned and sutured in a higher, more aesthetically pleasing position after the excess breast tissue has been removed.
Generally, breast implants will sit high in a short period after surgery, and then they drop into a more normal position. This usually takes a few weeks. The time it takes your breast implants to drop depends upon several factors, including the implant size, what size you were before your breast augmentation surgery, the implant surface type, implant placement, your muscle tone and whether you massage your breasts. If your implants are placed underneath the chest muscle, they will drop slower than if they are placed over the muscle. If you had very small breasts before, and get moderate to large implants, they will take longer to drop because of the tightness of your skin. Sometimes, one side will drop before the other side.
Your skin is being stretched after breast implants surgery. The sunburned feeling and red color appearance are caused by this stretching. This is a normal part of the healing process. This will settle once your skin begins to relax.
Your breasts will be firm for a while because of the post-surgery swelling. This will also depend on your muscle tone, implants shape and the implant placement. Textured implants may feel firmer than smooth ones.
Natural or fake spray tannnig before and after surgery is not recommended not until your suture sites are fully healed and your skin is no longer red and shiny. We recommend you to keep your incisions out of direct sunlight for six months to a year after surgery.
The reason why your breasts look like torpedoes is because your implants probably haven’t “dropped” yet. Do not worry as this is temporary. This will pass in time.
You should sleep on your back with your head elevated for the first five to 10 days after surgery to reduce your discomfort and swelling. You can sleep on your side or stomach after 2-3 weeks. It is best to consult with your Plastic Surgery Thailand surgeon as this will depend on your recovery and type of procedure.
Yes the numbness is a result of nerves being pressured from the swelling and tightly stretched over the implants. As the breast envelope relaxes and your swelling subsides, you will notice sensation returning gradually. This may take up to a year.
Yes this is normal. Many women complain of very erect and sensitive nipples after breast implant surgery. You can protect your nipples by using a Band-Aid (especially the large round ones), large corn pads, or nursing pads. These pads will protect your overly sensitive nipples from the abrasiveness of your clothing and shield your erect nipples. In addition, you may lose some sensitivity in the nipple or the surrounding skin after breast augmentation surgery. This usually subsides within a few weeks. In rare cases, however, loss of sensation can be permanent. As sensation returns to your nipples and breasts, you may experience sharp pains, itching, heat, tingling and prickling. These temporary sensations occur because nerve function is returning.
We recommend at least 6 weeks after surgery.
The weight of a breast implant varies with size and fill volume. A 200cc implant filled with 200cc of gel weighs approximately 200 grams.
You can easily replace the old waterproof dressing with a new one provided that there is no abnormal drainage on the incision site. Please make sure to keep your dressings clean and dry at all times. If there is purulent drainage, please contact Plastic Surgery Thailand Coordinator.
If there are remnant stitches, they should be the absorbable/dissolvable ones. This is not dangerous in any way, and essentially is your body rejecting the remnant stitch and “pushing” it out of your body. If you have a remnant stitch, keep the area clean and use an antiseptic. We recommend that you contact a local clinic to have the stitch that pokes out removed or trimmed by a doctor, as it can cause delayed healing of your surgical wound.
We recommend at least 6 months as this allows time for the swelling to subside.
We offer variety of implants, usually silicone textured gel implants. If you have a specific implants request, please notify your Plastic Surgery Thailand surgeon or Coordinator.
It usually takes 6 months to a year to see the final results. During this time your any implants will settle, and “fluff” gradually moving to a natural result.
